africandreams
Interested to hear from people's experiences with Bowen therapy (for their dogs) on what they do after a session? My bowen therapist recommends to keep the dog quiet, give them unlimited access to water. - How long do you rest your dog for/what does this involve- crate rest for a few hours? - Do people notice general soreness in their dog the day after a session? - If there is some soreness, is Arnica beneficial? - are short lead walks (as in just around the backyard) beneficial after treatment? megan_
Bowen is very very gentle (or should be ). Mine rest on the car ride home (about 1/2 an hour ) then it is business as usual. That said , they normally go at midday on a Saturday so when we get home they're pretty quiet anyway.
The Spotted Devil
My personal experience with Bowen is that I can feel really rejuvenated and full of beans OR completely exhausted. So I tend to let the dogs do as they wish at home - curl up and sleep or wander/run up the black block or we just go on a relaxed walk. I back off the formal training for a few days as they are the sort of dogs who will train through soreness/tiredness. Dogsfevr
Depends on the issue & how long between treatments or how long the issue has been there. If its a long term untreated issue yes there could be soreness, If my guys are sore they they recover quickly as i do a yearly maintenance plan . I pick afternoon appointments as it works in better for quiet time plus it makes my guys very sleepy but in the morning they will feel to good so i still limit there daily level. I do use arnica tablets if required & will give them a few days before . Mine go every 4/6 weeks . I also think the person doing the bowen also makes a big difference
trifecta
Yes, unlimited water & also some relaxed walking to loosen up - maybe 10-15 minutes at a time. I wouldn't confine in a crate, dog is better just mooching around.
