denali
good morning all, I have recently acquired my grandmother's CKCS, Henry. He has always had the grossest ears, is itchy and smells really doggy. He was very much loved and always went to the vet for many drugs, but it never worked for long. I am switching him over to a raw diet, he was previously eating wellness, as I believe he could be allergic to something in the food. In the meantime his ears do not get cleaner with the drugs/eardrops etc, and cleaning them with anything else just makes them more moist. I will say now tat it isn't a black wax, its more yellowy and pus looking. Gross I know.. But its not for lack of trying to fix them! Is there anything else I can do to help him? I thought I would try the calendula rinse for his other general itchiness. Could I use that on a cotton bud to wipe over his ears? Or if not, is there anything else that I could try? TIA! Steve
Calendula for sure and you can wipe the ears out with this as well but pus needs to be looked at via a vet in case its a infection issue. As you are changing him over to raw also add some probitotcs and let him eat the spent calendula.
Erny
Calendula Tea can be used just about anywhere. Agree about Vet check for infection. Be careful of using cotton bud - don't reach too far down or damage could be done. Best to use a cotton ball or make-up remover pad and only clean around the outer part of the ear that you can see. persephone
I would advise another vet ,perhaps, a sample of the discharge taken and identified- so that then, hopefully , the correct treatment can be found .... if the condition has not been named - then any treatment is only for symptoms ......
