TheCheekyMonster
Does anyone know of some good reading/documentaries/references about the domestication of dogs, and dog behaviour/development?
Dame Aussie
"The Truth About Dogs" by Stephen Budiansky is great. Goes over domestication, social conventions and behaviour, great book!
Kavik
Dogs: A Startlingly New Understanding of Canine Origin, Behaviour and Evolution by Raymond Coppinger and Lorna Coppinger. Very interesting read.
LisaCC
Have a google on the Farm Fox Experiment. It's been going on for over 50 years, trying to replicate the domestication process of wolves into domestic dogs. Lots of information out there, there was one particular documentary I thought was quite good, I'll try and find it. alpha bet
There is a great study done with wolf-dog comparisons - lots of articles and information you might find useful. http://familydogproject.elte.hu/wolf_dog.html
~Anne~
You might also find "Inside of a dog" by Alexandra Horowitz interesting. It's focus isn't on domestication though, but cognitive behaviour. She does touch on domestication though. http://insideofadog.com
