betsy
Hi I'm lucky enough to be going on a safari next year, and I'm in the process of trying to work out what gear I might need to take. I was wondering if anyone uses any sites etc for decent second hand cameras/lenses etc that they could recommend. I have a Canon 60D, but was specifically looking at a backup camera. I also will need to get a/some decent telephoto lens/es which I might be lucky enough to pick up second hand (or not). Still trying to work out which one I can afford! Thanks! Lynn168
I usually check Gumtree for used gear which is local, so I can go and check it out before I buy it. Have a google what kind of things you need to check (for example autofocus, sharpness, dust/mold, etc for lenses) and evaluate on the spot whether it's in good condition or not. I bought a used lens on Ebay once (unseen) which was completely soft wide open. Thankfully the seller immediately agreed for me to return it and refunded my money, but now I only buy used lenses after checking them out first.
