Isabella123
Hi my 1 year old doberman is getting her first booster vaccine tomorrow. I'm only going to let her have this first booster vaccine as suggested by her breeder, and will do titer test in the future before giving her another booster. She had C5 vaccine for her puppy vaccination, I'm not sure if she's going to have the same one tomorrow. She didn't had any major reaction to her puppy vaccines besides a small bump appearing at the injection site a week later, but that had gone down after a few weeks. I'm just worried about any potential side effects she might experience after the vaccine tomorrow.
OSoSwift
If you are only going to do one then titre I would do a C3. The 5 has kennel cough in it and that only covers around 6 months in reality anyway. Even after a year (when many are given their C5 booster) you won't be giving her a booster and titre testing doesn't test for it. In reality if she gets any reaction it will probably be a small lump, possibly be a bit off or quiet. Giving her the 3 rather than 5 will help reduce any potential for side effects. Isabella123
Thanks. Will advise the vet tomorrow to get her a C3 instead of C5 as she doesn't go to kennel or anywhere with loads of dogs. Glad I asked tonight!
Isabella123
Just remembered she did go off her food for a day after her last puppy vaccine, and a rash on her inner hind legs, but that were all gone within 1-2 days. Hopefully the C3 won't be as strong as C5. I remember I give her C5 because of the requirement of her obedience class.
OSoSwift
Because the C3 has less componants for her immune system to mount a response to she should be less likely to have a reaction than to a C5. Fingers crossed she will be just fine :)
