Scottsmum
Not sure where I sit on this idea. http://www.awlnsw.com.au/pet-dating.html Discuss :)
pipsqueak
Fine print says that there will be no adoptins on the day, and that you need to visit the shleter and apply for adoption, which I see as a good thing. Though, I can see a lot of broken hearts for the humans who miss out on "their" pooch.
Scottsmum
I didn't read the find print. (typical) .... I am still undecided :)
Simply Grand
I like it. I imagine they'll feature their "less desirable"/longer term residents who don't necessarily appeal to people looking online or walking the shelter but who actually have nice 'personalities' and are very loveable when you meet them. They've said you can't adopt on the day and it doesn't sound like they're taking names, just giving the dogs' info out and people have to follow up by going to the shelter if they are serious. As long as they select dogs who, wont be stressed by the experience and manage things carefully I think it's a good innovation.
sandgrubber
Disappointed. I thought it was going to be about a speed dating event where singles with dogs met other singles with dogs. Now that would be a good idea! Might be messy to stage, though. As far as a rescue strategy . . . great if it works . . .
Her Majesty Dogmad
I used to work in a large shelter. People would come in with a list of dogs to see. One of my strategies was to have a long termer in the office with me to give them exposure - there's only so much a photo can do, it often cannot convey what a delightful and loving dog lies behind it. I think this is definitely worth trying!
kelpiecuddles
In that time they'll get a massive amount of exposure and even if the dogs people are interested in aren't there when they go they may feel more willing to meet other dogs having been through the speed dating process. :)
