Staff'n'Toller
Tollers are not low energy. Mine can swim/run, or be out doing activities all day, power nap in the car on the way home and resume his normal afternoon bird hunting like he was never taken out. They are very birdy and can be high prey drive. They require a fair amount of grooming over the warmer months too.
denali
Too feminine? Hahah I don't think that's too girly at all :) I love hairless dogs, not sure they're for everyone though ;) And I've always been worried about the skin care aspect of them. Yes they are an acquired taste and some people just find them too strange  He may look odd, but with suitable clothing on he would happily run round a forest in Scotland for a couple of hours with 15 spaniels! He skin is pretty good, I usually just wash him about once a week - this time of year just under the hose outside, and put a bit of coconut oil on him.
