kelpiecuddles
I suggest if you are at all inclined to tear up you get the tissues BEFORE you read this. It's a letter full of love and bittersweet sadness written in the car as he contemplated walking in to the vet to have his beloved police dog euthanized. http://www.news.com.au/lifestyle/home/christopher-coscia-writes-letter-to-the-k9-partner-he-had-to-kill/story-fngwib2y-1226813656367 Edited January 30, 2014 by kelpiecuddles
Little Gifts
Damn you KC! Blubber city here now! I wonder if a police dog is still a police dog over the bridge or if it is able have some fun in retirement? Or is Dante in his element keeping all the naughtier dogs from getting too out of line? kelpiecuddles
Don't know LG, but I have a suspicion that the way he writes about Dante I suspect Dante felt plenty of happiness and love in his life even if he was raised for work. Little Gifts
I really think some dogs need a purpose to feel happy or content or even confident. My sister's ex was a security guard who had several trained guard dogs who were house dogs when not working. One in particular was the biggest sook who was always complaining he was being picked on by the other dogs but as soon as you brought his work gear out he was a totally different dog. The transformation always used to shock me. I wouldn't even go near him when he was like that as he looked so fierce. He would be retired now and I have no idea how he would be coping with that. aliwake
Yeah, I wish I hadn't read that this morning when I was at work - teared up big time. It was a wonderful tribute to their time together.
