bellacody
I'm not sure where to post this and I know we don't try and find homes for family pets on this site, but I wondered if anyone knew of a really good, realiable, trustworthy group or site where I can find a home for my son's dog? She is divine, simply divine and I am so scared of her getting into the wrong hands. My son is devastated to part with her but unfortunately can't keep her, and because she doesn't get along with other dogs (she's been attacked), I can't take her, which breaks my heart. Actually he is looking to find her a great home, but me being me and loving all animals so much, I need to be involved.... Thanks for reading, I am sure I am posting in the wrong section. I just need listers' knowledge...we are in the Wyong area of the Central Coast NSW. Sandra
mixeduppup
Hi Sandra, is she desexed? What breed is she? This will help people narrow down the field of which rescues may be able take her
Her Majesty Dogmad
Sandra - I'm a rescuer and may be able to help point you in the right direction. is the dog desexed? Was the dog from a breeder? If so, then the breeder should be your first port of call. Would be helpful if you could post a picture if you don't know the breed so that people can get some idea of the size. In order to get help, you need to provide a lot of information as most rescue groups only have room for certain kinds of dogs. Whilst I specialise in sighthounds, I help dogs of all kind/sizes but for fostering in my own home, I can only take smaller, mature dogs. You can pm me if you would prefer. bellacody
She is desexed, she is an English staffie with a beautiful nature...typical staffie loves people but she's not so keen on other dogs worst luck. Loves everyone...house trained, loves her ball, loves it. Loves walks, she just fits in beautifully but she needs quite a bit of companionship. mixeduppup
Being a staffy immediately puts her on the back foot and being bad with dogs makes her even more harder to place. You could google 'Staffy Rescue" and "big dog rescue"
bellacody
Hello, I really appreciate the replies I have received so quickly. I'm not sure how to PM....but Mia is 5 year old, is a very energetic dog, she's an English Staffie...probably about 8kg...probably less than that, I'll get more details from my son. She's black with a little grey face. The dog was 'free to a good home' because the people who previously owned her had to find a home for her due to rental issues...she was a major part of their family and was very stressed having to be rehomed. My son found out she was giong to a shelter so they took her in...they don't have the time she needs as they have two young children and Mia suffers separation anxiety . Poor little girlie, I'd take her in a heartbeat if I could. My son's kids while good to Mia, do tend to be full on with her so she would prefer older children but mostly she needs a lot of companionship. Is there anything else, please let me know.....I just can't think straight, I'm so distressed....Now I have a pic of her...will need to work out how to add it...there is an insert image button but it needs a website. bellacody
She's VERY small for a staffy at 8kg! She's tiny...she weighs between 8 and 9kg, I just messaged my son. How can I put her picture here for you to see her mixeduppup? I hope I'm replying properly, I don't want to take up all the space :)
raineth
It sounds like she has quite a few things going on for her. She has separation anxiety, she is distressed by change, she is not good with other dogs and can only go to a home with no children or older children. As awful as it may be to consider, because you are clearly very fond of her, she might not be a good candidate for rehoming because of these issues. But I guess it depends on the exact nature of these problems and how bad they are. Edited December 20, 2013 by raineth

But I guess it depends on the exact nature of these problems and how bad they are. That's what scares me. If she got along with my dogs (and visa versa), she would have the perfect home here because I'm home a lot and love being around my dogs. But that would be too easy wouldn't it .....she cries if she can't see you and they can only leave her home for a few hours before she gets distressed. I do think this stems from her previous home where she was very much a part of the family. She's only partly an inside dog with my son, she has to stay outside during the day . I think if she could find a home where she could be inside with you, she would settle, but that's just my thoughts. I have a rescue doggie who constantly got out, dug his way out, constantly ended up at the shelter. Since being here with me - almost 5 years (he was 11 months old when I found him), he never tries to get out, not even when I am out for a good part of the day. I just think the 'right' home is the answer...but like you said, she has issues....poor little girlie. I can't stop crying. Damn life can be hard at times, can't it. persephone
poor little girl rehoming at this time of the year is hard because folks either go away , OR are looking for a 'christmas' dog - both unhelpful. She does have some compounding issues ...and it seems as if she is upset/anxious quite a lot. Yet another home , with everything unfamiliar may exacerbate these issues :( I wish you well ... however , the decision to set her free , to give her wings is one you may need to look at ...
