mixeduppup
I Got asked whether these two breeds were available in Australia today. I've NEVER heard of a Tatra before, can soemone please tell me what it is and whether there are breeders in Aust? I love Blue Ticks (worked with a few in the states) but am unaware if they are available or even in Australia. Can someone shed some light so I can give proper info to this person. Thanks :)

mixeduppup
Awesome. Never heard of Tatras before are they more of a LGD or a herder?

Pjrt
I met a BTCH once about hmm, 15 or so yrs ago at a Bloodhound kennel in Vic( also met an Otterhound there <3 ) , and also met one at a show in SA a few yrs back. I only met it for a few minutes but heard it most of the day! Just yesterday I noticed the Tatra on the breed list and was wondering...."
mixeduppup
They look like a smoother maremma.
espinay2
Polish Tatra are one of the white European LGD breeds (there are quite a few BTW, but we only have a few of them here). Smaller and perhaps a bit more 'responsive' than some. As mentioned, they are a very new intro to thus country.
Dogsfevr
There is one shown in WA not sure why they are in the utility grp but they look like a Goldie cross Maremma. The temp of the one shown here is very stable in the ring with people & dogs may be different at work
Alyosha
There are also some Blueticks around in hunting circles, that would be unlikely to be registered, although would have originally come from registered stock.
brintey
Showdog I have no idea why half the LGDs are in working and half in Utility, but the Pyrs, Anatolians and Central Asians are all in Utility so they are in good company. Probably makes more sense as they are closer to guardians than herders.
luvmybulldog
I don't think they breed Blue Ticks anymore - I think they just have Ridgebacks. I could be wrong though.
piper
It has been quite a few years since the people in SA with Ridgebacks also had their Bluetick Coonhound. I don't know of any around down here anymore.
