What Happens To Pet Shop Puppies....

When I was in one of these pet shops looking for a something for my puppy, there was a 6 month old GSD pup in one of the boxes.

There was a middle-aged man in there enquiring about it. He wanted to get his 80 year old mother a pup to keep her company as she had been unwell...and this was the pup he was thinking of! Seriously.

He didn't ask too many questions except how long could they keep it before they could return it if it didn't work out. I was appalled and left the shop, so I don't know if he went ahead with buying it or not.

There is still a Samoyed puppy at the Knox City pet store.

The poor mite did have another play mate but the pup has now been by it self maybe about a couple of weeks.

It was $1800, yesterday the price was $1700.

They also have a couple of Papillions, didn't see the price though.

Varies according to ethics of owner. Choices are

Shifted around to various branches in the pet shop chains.

Taken home by staff.

Discounted.

Dumped at RSPCA

Sent back to breeder.

Took out in paddock & shot. Yes it happens.

Honestly purely from a business perspective I doubt whether it would be common to PTS - they would want to recoup some money even at a loss rather than nothing at all. Poor pups - I can't even stand to look and avoid them in shopping centres :(
