whippytails
Hi All, Having decided on my next camera body finally, I am now looking at the lenses to accompany it. I already have the 18-55mm and 55-200mm nikon lenses from my older Nikon camera so am looking for something else that will help with the need to not take two lenses to some events (dog shows/dance concerts ect) So currently looking at Tamron AF 18-270mm f3.5-6.3 Di II VC PZD or Sigma 18-250mm F3.5-6.3 DC Also anyone had issues with Kogan? Are the all grey imports?
tdierikx
I love my Tamron 18-270... works a charm on my Canon 60D... http://www.flickr.com/photos/tdierikx/sets/ - check out the pics in the set Symbio Zoo 16th November 2013, can you pick which ones were taken with my Canon professional lens? A good number of those were actually taken with the 18-270... T.
whippytails
All are gorgeous pics. Love the colours in the tigers. The koala pics are also great and show great detail. I would have said the tiger pics were taken with the Canon lense.
tdierikx
The first 4 tiger pics were with the Tamron lens 18-270... as was the peacock, and the turtle peeking out through the bush... The Taronga Zoo sets 27th and 28th July were ALL taken with the Tamron 18-270mm lens - if you want some more comparison... *grin* T.
CrazyCresties
whippytails - for my most recent purchase I used http://www.mycamerafocus.com.au/about/. They are grey imports, but based in Perth. The service I received was excellent. Also check out..... http://www.bhphotovideo.com/ - USA based but great prices and service. I had to return a lens once that was faulty on arrival and it was exchanged with no fuss. Also good consumer reviews of lenses on the site. http://www.dwidigitalcameras.com.au/astore/Default.aspx http://www.digitalcamerawarehouse.com.au/ Be careful if buying Sigma on grey import as C.R.Kennedy, the sole Au importer for Sigma will not honour warranties on them - they will however attempt to price match. http://www.sigmaphoto.com.au/sigma/parallelandgreyimports.html Also check out POTN for lens samples - http://photography-on-the.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=107 It is a canon based site, but it has a good 'library' of lens reviews and samples. Have fun shopping :)
piper
Another 1 to try is camerastore.com.au - I could not find better for my Sigma lens earlier this year and it is not a grey import. They are the online leg of a major camera retailer in SA. They were even good enough to ring me the day they lodged it with the courier to let me know to expect it the next day :)
