raz
Sorry but I think thats totally ridiculous. there are much more effective ways to promote the plight of street dogs in India than taking a dog up a death zone and potentially risking the lives of the hundreds of climbers that attempt that super highway, high altitude garbage dump every year. sandgrubber
Had they hit problems, this could have been just as bad as the guy who ended up eating his dog and barely surviving.
raz
It actually had the potential to be a lot worse considering the bottle neck and storms that happen up there every year. On top of that, how do you give O2 to a dog suffering from AMS, or even worse, would the climbing team have sacrificed their own O2, Dex and other meds for a dog rather than sick humans. Even more incredulous, summit permits for humans are extremely expensive. How much of donors dollars went into a climbing permit for a dog. Just beggars belief really. Tempus Fugit
You've all been taken in. The dog only went as far as the base camp.
kelpiecuddles
Yep, he only went to base camp and this ladies previous dog went all sorts of amazing places with her also so I'd say she'd be pretty used to taking care of her dog in less than ideal conditions. Guest Maeby Fünke
You've all been taken in. The dog only went as far as the base camp. Yes, the article is misleading because the title says the dog "tackled Mt Everest"... But the Mt Everest Base Camp and the peak of Mt Everest are two different things. The altitude is still high enough for people to die from AMS without acclimatising. It's no place for a dog.
