Lisey Posted November 1, 2013 Share Posted November 1, 2013 (edited) We are having a weekend away in Byron Hinterland - I put Frontline on both dogs on Wednesday for ticks - just found this on Eva's collar. Is it a paralysis tick or just a brown dog tick? I've just gone over both dogs and can't see anymore... ETA - Sorry I can't get the photo any bigger. Are You Serious Jo Posted November 1, 2013 Share Posted November 1, 2013 Look at the underside of the tick, google will show you the difference between a paralysis and cattle tick, it's easy to spot once you have pictures of the underside of both. sheena Posted November 2, 2013 Share Posted November 2, 2013 Usually the paralysis ticks are well dug in & not easy to remove & leave a lump afterwards, which takes a while to go away (in my dogs anyway). It looks like one of the other types to me, but hard to see in the photo. Jed Posted November 3, 2013 Share Posted November 3, 2013 (edited) Paralysis ticks have all their legs clustered around the head. Other ticks have the legs spread around the body. As the diagrams.
