*kirty*
I took Champa to the vet this morning due to weight loss, and a large mass has been found in his abdomen. The vet thinks it arises from his kidney, but it seems to also involve the intestine. We have done bloods and a FNA so we should know more by tomorrow. Vet has suggested that if it hasn't spread, she would like to perform a nephrectomy. Has anyone had any experience with this type of cancer or this procedure? I always thought this dog would live forever so this has all come as a bit of a shock.
The Spotted Devil
Very sorry to head this Kirst Champa has been one helluva PITA at times, bless him, but I know how much you love him. No advice but I'm thinking of you xxx
*kirty*
Thanks Sal, its devastating. Unfortunately we have decided not to go ahead with surgery. I've spoken to all the vets at work and read as much as I can, and basically the success rate is low, and this type of cancer is very aggressive and spreads rapidly. The Spotted Devil
For what it's worth, Kirst, you (obviously) are very well informed and it sounds to me like you are making the right decision I know that won't make it any easier right now but I hope it will on reflection. My heart goes out to you. You always show an amazing commitment to the animals in your care and Champa (in all his norty moments especially) is yet another example of this. Take care my friend xxx

FrodofromAus
Sorry to hear about your dog. You are obviously a dedicated owner. You never expect to hear that your dog has cancer and it is an awful shock. Not sure if there is any info here that might help you. I hope all goes well for you xx Edited November 15, 2013 by smiley4444
