2boxer
I just read through my brothers dogs diagnosis "Reason for visit: Boof was admitted for chemotherapy to treat multicentric diffuse high grade large B cell lymphoma" He has had three treatments and is now in clinical and cytological remission. Just wanted to give you some hope!! Boof is also one on those dogs where if there is a complication it will happen to him, and he has so far cruised through treatment! FrodofromAus
Hi I am sorry you are facing this battle with your dog. As someone who has had a dog suffer histiocytic sarcoma which is aggressive I know the worry and heartbreak you face. My dog is still with me four years later. Why well apart from some lucky my belief is that diligence, quick action and the use of an oncologist was the reason he is with me now. As a result of how grateful I am, I have done a website on canine cancer. I had to do so much reading and studying to be able to do it but I wanted to be able to help other dog owners and save more dogs. There is so much for us all to learn. I have been allowed to post the web address in the health forum but I would really urge you to use an oncologist. On the website you can read about the different treatments. I will say this. It is very important that people get the experts to administer these treatments. By this I mean and oncologist as opposed to a general local vet has done many many years additional training in just cancer. If there are any problems or side effects with chemo the oncologists know what to do, what to change, what types of chemo for what types of cancer. I have heard more stories than I can remember of dogs getting treatments that are probably not right. Why would you give a dog chemo if there is no pathology to confirm, staging and grading have not been done etc and further testing to know precisely what cancer it is. Please take the time to look over the site. There are articles on all of the things I have mentioned in this posting. All have been checked for accuracy and the oncologist has his name to the medical articles. They are also answering questions on the forum. The cancer message is just so important to get out there so that more dogs are saved and better treatments found. I cant tell you the time I have put into this website and I hope people find it useful and learn from it. The cancers are done by body part and the main ones on each body part ie Lymphoma are done in more simple detail with links to world sites that open precisely on the page of for eg Lymphoma. No looking bang it is there. You will also note more than one cancer for these body parts and this is why pathology is so important. I hope your dog does well and I hope you find the site helpful http://www.caninecancer.org.au Lisa Edited October 26, 2013 by smiley4444

Tara and Sam
Thanks for the link smiley , have had a good look around it Thanks Jules Yes it is a rough time , but after telling her breeder and having tears I sent a copy of Tynka's Path test to the breeder so she could also show her vet , and he agrees it is a agressive Lymphoma and wont be "maybe" a couple of months So there wont be anymore testing for her as it will be the same outcome it will be totall quality time from now on She has started a bit of decline in the fact she has gone from 8.7 kilo down to 8.1 in about a week , with no change to her food intake she is starting to loose muscle tone in her hind legs the last 2-3 days she has trouble getting on our bed so am getting some steps for her to makke it easier , "just" in case we our out , then she can still get on her favourite spots without trouble of hurting helself other than that she is still eating well and toileting is just few more wees due to the Prednisolone still trotting around the garden and having lots of cuddles Cheeky little girl woke me up this morning growling at me and then barking at me to get up to let her out for wee when she saw me awake then she wagged her tail and then her little tap dance as going to the door  precious memory to hold on to my precious breeder is going to start organising the desexing and flight for a Blenheim to arrive here which was on the cards before all this has happened , but has been brought forward ( a quick resize of a pic ) mums little girl is on the left ( she is Tynka's aunty who is almost 11 years old ) and my girl on the right who is 8 1/2 years old

Tara and Sam
Sadly pers I think that is starting to happen in the last 3 days she has gone from 8.1 now down to 7.7 in 12 days she has dropped a kilo she appears to still be happy ,and running around , eating well and toileting well and using the step up I made for her to get on the bed she is having 3 smaller meals so as not to bloat her tummy up , the Prednisilone can cuase more fluid on her she doesnt look skin and bones , but i can see or more feel where she has lost her shoulder and hind leg muscle tone even my OH mentioned she seemed smaller in her head circumfrence
