Raelene
Sorry I was unable to find get the "move to old" button to come up. I have a good friend who wants to adopt a golden retriever. It is a great semi-retired home with a loving family. Looking for a good natured, easy going dog which is good with young children (close family with lots of grand kids) and cats (there is a resident dog friendly cat). Would need to be dog friendly but will be an only dog. They recently lost their rescue BC who lived happily to old age. They were treated a little unthought fully through rescue so I thought I would check out what else might be around to help them out. Loreley
Goldens do have a breed specific rescue group I believe. But my neighbour breeds them and may have one that she is looking at rehoming. If you're interested I can have a chat with her and see if she's still available??

Her Majesty Dogmad
Are they in ACT/NSW? If they are in QLD there is another great Golden Retriever Rescue.

mita
If they are in QLD there is another great Golden Retriever Rescue. That might be Golden Ark Rescue. Located just south of Brisbane, they service the whole state. But say they'll deal with other states, too. They're associated with a dog treat bakery.... that's a fund-raiser. The treats are great quality. All info on their website, including current Goldies for adoption & the treats. http://gara.org.au/ Their Facebook page is a delight. They need more foster-carers in SE Qld: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Golden-Ark-Rescue-Aust-Inc/187454044633952 Edited October 19, 2013 by mita

mita
Yes, Golden Ark Rescue is great (like their dog treats!). And they've got the most brilliant advertising for foster-carers. Who could resist :) : https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=592360294143323&set=a.187649281281095.42980.187454044633952&type=1&theater
Raelene
Thanks everyone for your replies. Apologies I was offline over the weekend. Have been in contact with local Goldy rescue. Loreley ex-breeders dog is ok if suitable. Located ACT.
Raelene
They have been deemed not suitable through GRR as the dog will sleep outside the door in a kennel in their covered pergola area. The dog will be allowed to be inside with family but will sleep outside. I can vouch that it is a loving home. I've known them for well over 20 years and they adore their pets, they have the best of care, and have never rehoused one.
trifecta
Rae, have you looked in the breeders section of DOL? http://www.dogzonline.com.au/breeds/mature/golden-retriever.asp The female sounds like she could be a candidate :)
