Depends where the dog show is being held. I've been to a few on public grounds and there were people there with dogs that were not there for the show, myself included once or twice :)

Mostly you can but if you want to talk to exhibitors about breeds and meet their dogs, it's probably easier to leave your dog at home.

Most exhibitors probably won't want their dogs greeting yours and it will inhibit what you can do at the show.

Certainly happens though.

ETA: I see its a specialty. Certainly see quite a few spectators dogs at specialties. Sometimes owners bring them to see their breeders again. Couple of things - no dogs in the loos means you'll have to leave the dog outside unless you have someone to hold yours.

I stayed at a dog show at Erskine park many years ago with some exhibitors, took my girl with me when i went to watch and it was fine but i wouldn't take a dog that was at all nervous or likely to drag at the lead wanting to say hello to every dog it sees. At that time she was very highly trained(mummy has let her get away with a lot in her old age LOL) and it was easy but i wouldn't take either of my current dog just to watch.

Depends on your dog and how it behaves around a lot of dogs and crowds.

I often bring my JS to shows if I'm just there to watch. She is a lot easier to handle than my Samoyed... even though my Samoyed is a show dog!

My home club and the local ob club don't allow spectators dogs, I couldn't even take my own bitch who had been scratched once we got to a trial and had to leave her at friends. I was surprised to hear that some places will allow spectators dogs

I take my dogs with me when I go to EP, one at a time of course, when I want to see their breed being shown. I don't stay long usually. If it's a big show there are stalls selling things so a good opportunity to get some doggy items.
