And even the thin coat in the blue areas - we used to say Max was part pig... as the hair was always so thin on his blue patches. :D If a black dog carries the dilution gene but doesn't express it can they develop dilution alopecia? Weasels Posted September 16, 2013 Share Posted September 16, 2013 (edited) Indigirl I can't find any info on a genetic test for CDA, I don't think they've isolated the allele/s that cause it yet. It could be that some companies are testing for just the presence of dilution alleles and saying that is the same as testing for CDA? If so, dodgy.
