My Rottie X Puppy Is Searching For A Home!

Recommended Posts

I wanted to share my foster puppy with you guys. He is desperate for a new home (and at 9 weeks, its key age for him to be off to a new family!). Has had 0 interest so far, so if anyone is looking for a large breed super soft family dog, please let me know! I have attached his profile below :)

Hi there, my name is Lupin!

My mission in life is to get cuddles! I am a happy go lucky dude with a serious love for people. Other dogs are fun too and my foster mums cat is pretty cool but nothing beats people!

I am a large sable cross, which means I am going to be BIG just check out my paws! So I will need a lots of exercise/mental stimulation (Foster Mum says I'm a too smart for my own good already!) to keep me calm and happy.

My foster mum is a dog trainer and I have already had lots of practice at basic training my sit is pretty good already and so is my recall! I love tug-o-war and I love food treats even more so training me is really easy.

My new family will need to continue my training to make sure I grow up to be the awesome doggie that I know you want me to be! I am currently partaking in training classes with my foster mum and my new owners will have to continue these (don't worry though foster mum says she will help you find the right class to continue with).

We has a form for you to fill out so we can find out if we're the right match! If you're looking for a fun dog who will cuddle your feet at night and be a great playmate for years to come then send us an email at [email protected].

I could even be an Obedience champion if you're into that sort of thing. Hope to meet

you soon

Love Lupin <3

I would change his breed id, a lot of people will be put off by it and just not look, and anyone who really wants a rotti looking dog won't be interested as he doesn't look like one.

Personally I love rotts, but I don't think the id is helping him.

Agree; try Labrador x big boy.

If he isn't a lab I don't see the point in labeling him as one? Labs do have a different temp to a rotty and there is no point in misleading people just to get him into a home. I agree with removing the rottie mix though. I would just say "large cross breed".

Looks like a Mastiff cross to me. Can't see Rotti at all.

They have his mum in care, so are sure on that account! NO idea what the rest is though :o His sister looks like a Labrador x!

It's very difficult, even though his mum is a Rotti he isn't the right colouring so for the Rotti lover who likes that look, he may not appeal so much.

He has a very interesting forehead, I like those interesting markings.

What people want to know in an ad could be put in bullet point form - the training part will definitely appeal so you say xxx is trained to sit, stay, come when called.

Is he housetrained? Good in the car?

You've provided quite a bit of info but it is long - in my experience people don't read too much, sad to say.

Maybe change his name slightly? I like Lupin but you could try changing to "Lupo". People don't realise they can change a name and Lupin is very unusual.

I thought he may have some Labrador in the mix that's why i said Lab x earlier but he is a mix so large mix breed sums it up.

Agree what others have said about his info being short and to the point.when i look at profiles i want to know how the dog is with other dogs and cats;what training he has and if he has been around children .

Why would anyone suggest listing him as something he may not be. If he is a Rottie x then that's what he should be listed as  . I am sure the perfect Rottie x home will come along. I'd snap him up if I wasn't at my limit, he is my perfect big boofer x breed .

I shared his pet rescue profile on Facebook :).

I agree! I think he's gorgeous, you really shouldn't have too much trouble finding the right home. The fact that he's got you as his carer (cute pics and training) puts him a cut above the rest. Try and find a kid or two to throw in to a pic as well and to socialise him with.

You already see my dog spam on FB so you probably know the sort of things I do to try to make the dog more appealing.

I put up lots of video links to training that has been done with the dog and also video footage of the dog interacting generally so that people can better imagine how the dog will fit into their home. I've found that while you can describe the training, people love being able to see the dog actually doing stuff - tail wagging, eyes alert etc. A lot of profiles make certain claims but sometimes they are a bit creative so it's nice to have proof to show people :)

I have photos and videos of the dog with other dogs and photos of the dog interacting with children. I do videos for other rescues/carers and for the dogs that are big and might be seen to be a bit intimidating/scary, I make sure we have photos of the dog interacting with small dogs and children e.g. this is Delta the pit bull cross

This is Blossom the huge brindle crossbreed who was languishing in care for months and months before a video was put up for her

IMG_7754_processed.jpg

This was her video and she was adopted pretty quickly after that

ETA: It was only my second dog video ever so it's a bit crappy :p But it's got the small dog, young child in it :) Having children in the photos/video is also helpful for puppies where parents might want to satisfy themselves that the dog is calm and behaved around small children.
