How Do You Deal With The Obsessive Animal Lib Types?

I don't have the issue with animal lib types, but my own sister was bombarding FB with her healthy lifestyle crap, to the point of taking swipes at my mum and her choice to have chemo to save her life.

We all ignored it for over a year, then it came to a head when she said some very rude and insulting stuff at a family dinner. But ignoring it worked while it didn't affect us (i.e no insults). I no longer talk to my sister, I was unfriended by her ("accidentally") and then I blocked her so I couldn't be harassed any more but I still have to put up with a few others who use FB as a soapbox. I still just ignore it - they can have their opinion and I can have mine as long as it's not insulting personally.

Personally, I'm too nice. I don't like to cause a fuss or rock the boat. Even if someone says something I don't agree with in public, Im more likely to bite my tongue than stand up to them. Wish I was stronger.

Cant you block all but 'important updates'. If I see any anti racing posts I will carefully explain how whatever the conspiracy theory is wrong and can usually get a response that waters down the AR angle but anyone posting horrible images or videos of injured horses (activist style) will be deleted in a second and blocked.

As for those 'beware of this person and this is what they do to dogs/cats/etc I just call them spammy posts since they are always horrible images from the US under the guise of 'please spread the word'. Im yet to work out why people do that when they don't know where the image/story is from and then its there on their wall til the delete it.

Unfortunately it is one of the few contact mediums that my husband is able to use regularly when he is posted overseas with the defence force. I also live interstate from all my family and many of my friends. Facebook for me is just a spot for me to put photos of the family, etc so that those who are far away can see it. At the moment, stuck on my own with three children, a full time job and a long way from everyone it's nice to see what every one is up to since I basically never get to go out as the sort of places my friends go aren't usually kid friendly (Saturday night drinks at the pub, etc)and I'm basically the only one with kids and no one to watch them. The majority of the people I have on facebook don't post meaningless crap, they post photos of their latest hike through Europe or a night out with friends.

She is a doggy foster carer m-j so she's not doing nothing.

One of her friends has actually agreed with many of my points on the latest one and it's turned in to quite an interesting discussion on the pitfalls of some of the current animal welfare legislation and the way it can limit some agencies capacity to assist animals so all is not lost

Sorry, I was a bit abrupt but it really peeves me when people critise organisations whose hands are generally tied with many constraints.

It's great that she is fostering, good on you (collectively) for turning the discussion into an enlightening one.
