The Spotted Devil
Link 86 Jack Russell terriers found living in squalid Victorian homePosted 6 hours 56 minutes ago RSPCA officers have seized 86 Jack Russell terriers living in squalid conditions inside a house at Ripplebrook, east of Melbourne. They raided the house after negotiations with the owner of the property failed earlier this week. Shelters manager Allie Jalbert says the dogs have been taken to a shelter to be checked by vets. She says incidences of animal hoarding are surprisingly common. "The challenge is working with various support services and also authorities to try and rectify the situation - not only for the animals, which are the victim in this situation, but to try and get support services in place for the person who's done it so we don't see the situation repeat itself," she said. "Hoarding has a very high recidivism rate." Edited August 22, 2013 by The Spotted Devil
