11 Week Old Boxer Puppy Admitted To Hospital

Recommended Posts

I've had to admit my 11 week boxer puppy to hospital this morning. Friday and saturday she had a slight limp in her left leg, showed no signs of pain when touched and was bright and playful. 4am this morning I woke to her wimpering and no bowl or bladder control and unable to move her back legs at all. Tic, snake bite, parvo and any type of leg or spine fracture have been ruled out. They have a neuro specialust coming to look at her today. Has anyone seen or heard of anything like this at all? I am beside myself at the moment.

Sorry if this is in the wrong section.

See if the Neuro will rule out Coonhound Paralysis. My partners dog Ruby came down with paralysis earlier in the year, two dogs were admitted to the specialists for the same problem and it was down to either Coonhound Paralysis or Death Adder bite (tests for snake bite where negative but that doesn't mean everything).

She was treated at the specialists for over a week and now she is perfectly fine, as is the other dog.

Yes they have already started treatment. I've contacted my breeder just to give her an update and especially if it is Neo she may want to let other puppy owners know in case they want to get tested, also she might want to look at testing mum. I thought I was doing the right thing in letting her know but feel I may of offended her.

She has been back in touch with me and she is fine. She is upset about. As I've told her we should wait till the results to come back and then we can cross any bridges if and when we come to one. On a brighter note Bailey barked at the nurses for some attention, which is a good sign.

I'm glad the breeder has been back in touch with you Boxbright. I agree with OSo, the breeder was probably shocked and upset at the news.

I do hope your little munchkin will be ok, with no long-lasting effects. Barking and seeking the nurses attention does sound like a good sign. Fingers and paws crossed here for Bailey.
