Allerzeit
I'm not sure if its "is that all" or more of "WTF??" here's the end result though :D And to think that they just had their 7th birthday!
Angeluca
I have a few from My very first litter I had to document as much as possible. First puppy Look at her the look on her face! That is so beautiful She was so proud of herself and a perfect mum at that. She was a bit tired about half way through, and had the 'I'm not sure about this anymore face'but at 8 weeks she would still let all 8 feed, very nurturing. A great litter kept 2, a boy and a girl on Main could have gone with maybe another one or two and Loved having the choice. piper
I have a couple of the first pup from a brand new mum. Despite the mess, I completely love how this captures mum's "What on earth is THAT?!" moment while I was helping get his airways clear and giving him a rub. Moments later he was pink and bright - which I've included as he looks a bit scarily blue at first! It also shows well how un-absorbent an old quilt is... After first pup it was removed to a bucket of Napisan and she was then too busy to worry about being on newspaper!! Then a pic of some of the same litter having a drink. Food goes in, poop comes out... These 12 were a full time job for mum and me to try and keep clean!! For folks who don't get to see this stuff it can be fascinating. If it's not interesting, there are lots of other threads on here... Love her looking on Alyosha. I wanted to capture that moment with Jazz but she jumped out of the box in panic, lol. And before we could settle her number 2 had already arrived. She wanted NOTHING to do with them and I was getting worried that I would be hand raising a large litter and my first ever litter. It was amazing to see instinct kick in though, we convinced her to lay down, held the puppies on and as soon as they attached she knew exactly what to do. Alyosha
Thanks guys :) She didn't know what to do either piper! It's only that my OH snapped these pics - my hands were full so I wouldn't have had a chance like you. As the first was born she screamed and spun around in fright. So I was clearing his face for him. She even had a very short moment where I think her prey drive was triggered perhaps? The crawling and squeaking? The confusion in her face was palpable... Once she got a really good smell and a taste she was smitten and a devoted and dedicated mum. She raised all 12 perfectly. :D

Penny was a spinner and screamer and I had to watch her with chewing the cord too. On one she got so carried away I feared she's accidentally chew legs off or even a hole in his belly. I had to gently intervene.

Fortunately I had a good vet on call, who said, be calm and patient, put the pups on her, she'll eventually catch on. After the third pup she was fine and she was a great mother for subsequent litters.

I think the first being only 10 minutes apart didn't help as there was just no time in between, was barely cleaned and she was already pushing to get the next out. It was an experienced breeder who suggested we gently hold her down and put the pups on her. Amazing to see the switch go on when we did that. Andisa
I wish I never cropped this pic of Charli after her first pup was born - she had no idea what the hell just happened and I love the look on her face. Would have been wonderful to have had someone standing by with a video camera. sorry the pic is so big - no idea how to change it.
