piper
So excited to get home today to my new lens. I got it through www.camerastore.com.au They had the best price I could find anywhere for a Sony mount and their service was brilliant. As an added bonus, they are a local Adelaide based business. I have never before had an online store call me just to say they are sending something that day and confirm all details were correct and the address I wanted it to go to. Unfortunately, by the time I got home, the light on this very grey day was poor. But that is ok I though, I got it for those kinds of times. I attached it and called the girls and headed outside. Man, that lens is SO much heavier than what I am used to. I discovered it is most definitely a 2 handed job to operate the camera with it attached. This meant I did not get the action shots I wanted as Jazz was dropped, staring at me waiting for the frisbee. And her daughter Cinna was standing behind her waiting to chase her when she chased the frisbee. I did discover though, that I got lovely portraits with it. So now you can be bombarded with my first efforts. The focus is off on some - I need to do more practice using a shallow depth of field - I think I need to change my focus mode as the camera wanted to select the nose. Not many pics of Jazz - she was mostly laying too close: The only action type shots I managed: Jazz's daughter Cinna (the not so little puppy) Not all the shots worked - had some fails too. I was NOT expecting Cinna to pounce.... I am definitely excited about getting to know the lens better :) eta: camera is a Sony A580 Edited July 30, 2013 by piper
tlc
Its a pretty spiffy lens, I have 3 friends who have it! I have the canon f/4 version it is great. Great shots, its awesome for action!
piper
Yes, I am looking forward to trying it out. My old lens was light enough that I could throw frisbee while holding camera to my eye ready to shoot. Couldn't manage that with this 1. Need to go somewhere away from yard, where they will run and play without waiting on me to throw a toy :)

Kirislin
Lovely shots. I really like the out takes  they're cute.
piper
I like the out takes as well. The shot before has her body in focus and a blur for her head as she started to pounce and the last one is one big put of focus patch of hair. Lol
pesh
Really nice portrait shots. Nothing like a new toy. :)
