♪♫LMBC♫♪
This labradoodle puppy farm is giving away a dog as a prize in a raffle on Facebook. Can they actually legally do this? Link
minimax
Anyone can give away anything they own, so if they own it they can do what they want with it. Unfortunately :/
BrigadoonRose
Facebook have pretty stringent rules about how it is used to run/promote competions, and often suspend pages for contravening those rules. At the very least the comp might be against FB regs.

kelpiecuddles
I'm getting an unavailable notice now too but it worked before. Sadly legal and ethical aren't the same thing.
Nicquistar
Not sure what the law is these days but years ago it was illegal to give an animal away as a raffle prize. Greg
Loving my Oldies
Not sure what the law is these days but years ago it was illegal to give an animal away as a raffle prize. Greg Yes, I was of the opinion that that was the case too. I have a vague recollection of a magazine offering a pet as a prize and that was very quickly and firmly jumped on. ♪♫LMBC♫♪
It seems to have disappeared for me now too. Hopefully that means Facebook has put a stop to it.
Danois
Current Regs do not say animals are a prohibited prize. Prohibited prizes are: • tobacco products in any form • firearms or ammunition • prohibited weapons • the provision of cosmetic surgery or other similar procedure the main purpose of which is to improve personal appearance, and • liquor prizes more than 20 litres Money over stated limits dependent on promotion type. Mrs Rusty Bucket
ANKC says you can't do it. And RSPCA recommends against it. But I think people still can. It's a pity anyone thinks this is a good idea.

kelpiecuddles
In the Tas regs it actually talks about what should be done if a 'livestock' prize is unclaimed so sounds like there is no legal problem with it.
Rozzie
The Land used to give away foals and working dog pups in competitions. Don't know if they still do, haven't read it for yonks.
