Baby Dragon
Hey guys, I'm helping to fundraise for a rescue group and I need help in finding reliable statistics of how many dogs and how many cats in Australia are PTS each year due to not having a home. Either an 'average' of the past five years, or last year's figures will do. Everywhere I look, there are different statistics. I just want to be able to quote reliable figures. Does anyone know where to find them? Thank you
_PL_
Death Row Pets or Shel at Pet Rescue may have some. DRP published some a year or two ago and if they have stats to hand it will save you gathering the raw data. Statistics will vary depending on if they're counting just rehomeable animals or ALL animals.

tdierikx
Division of Local Government - in NSW. http://www.dlg.nsw.gov.au/dlg/dlghome/dlg_index.asp Can also be called Department of Local Government in other states - and Department of Primary Industries in Victoria - each state has both from the looks of it, and it depends on the state as to which department looks after companion animal stats... http://www.dpi.vic.gov.au/ T.
