persephone
A friend of mine who lost her dog last year is thinking seriously about once again having a dog companion ... she has been to the AWL, GAP adoption day , and is scanning pet Rescue ... here is part of an email... female for sure medium to large (although I saw some CUTE teeny pooches today that nearly stole my heart! but then they started yapping....) med to long hair (or poodly type - just not really short hair) NOT barky or yappy around 3 years plus (happy for an older doggy) not too much energy (evening strolls every day or two are ok, but don't want to have to run with it or walk twice a day etc) snuggly (will be an "on the bed" dog :p) NOT stafford looking (something about stafford and me - just don't gel) more pointed head/nose than snuff-nose confident - not too nervy /anxious MUST be dog friendly ..there are a lot of doggy friends to visit , and who come visiting :) Toddler friendly would be terrific as friends have small kids . She has been looking at Greys recently - loves their nature , but as she comes up here and to beaches etc wants a dog who is able to free run. Last dog was a Belgian Shepherd ..from puppy til into her teens ... No GREAT panic, but sooner rather than later :) person is currently studying, plus does some work from home , and lives alone . trifecta
Could you not twist her arm about getting a male, persephone  BSD rescue NSW has Burt & Rex in care. They both fit the bill :D Sally is happy to do interstate adoptions. Unfortunately there are no females fitting the criteria in care at the moment. Loving my Oldies
Don't forget to read "the small print". That is: no good with chicken or livestock. Is your friend in the country?
Perry's Mum
Koolie Rescue have a lot of 3-8 year old Koolie girls who are looking for new homes - tell her to contact me and we can find her the right one. Our dogs are free of charge and come with all vet work done. She can look at them beforehand or try them out - they come on a month's test to make sure both sides are happy. Koolies love cuddles and children, only bark if there is something like a postman to bark at, and are not too high energy once they reach 3-4 years. No, inner sububs :) Most of my pet dogs would have been classed "no good with chickens or livestock" they have all killed a chook or chased something at some time
persephone
jumps fences if left alone in yard apparently - why wasn't that put in her profile, I wonder ? Not a great problem in this case .. dogs are always left inside if no one is home ..but a worry still . If this doesn't work out ... I will tell her about the Koolies :)

Mrs Rusty Bucket
There sure are a lot of (female) greyhounds looking for homes on the pet rescue site...but I guess they're not hairy enough. There were a couple of lab x (kelpie?) as well but I think they'd fail on the laid back requirement.
Loving my Oldies
I wonder if I could take about 8 years of Bunter's age. He'd be perfect :D
persephone
Grey temperament is ideal .. however she likes to do beach walks etc off lead DD I'm very sure Bunter is entirely satisfied where he is!! :D
Miss Squish
Would your friend be interested in a Shar pei? We have just had a 6 year old , black girl come into care. Trinity won't be ready to go for a few weeks but she's just beautiful:) She gets on well with all dogs and cats. Loves to go for a walk but doesn't need a walk everyday. Is currently sleeping on my bed ;) She doesn't bark much at all. She's good with kids, was great with a toddler and older kids. Trinity would be fine offlead for beach walks. Trinity sounds a lovely and lucky girl ... and temp. wise sounds perfect :) There are health things to consider tho, aren't there? Skin/eyes/ shar pei fever ? I think knowing there was something like a bad fever which could happen would be a bit much stress ... or am I barking up teh wrong tree ?
