GeorgieB
Sounds interesting! Is there any breed or age restrictions? :)
grizabella
I'm very excited! Hopefully I'll be able to come along for a couple of the dates, dependent on when I'm rostered to work. Thank you so much for organizing this, it'll be awesome to have regular lure racing in Adelaide.
Kirislin
good luck with it.
OutOfSightHound
No breed restrictions even muttlies are welcome. As for age if your dog is under 9 months they can NOT run the oval track. They can do a puppy run at the straight lure at Virginia.
GeorgieB
No problems there Reggies one year old. Definitely keen to try it. First timers welcome at all dates? :)
Mrs Rusty Bucket
There is a recommendation that you don't bring small fluffy dogs to the Germantown road oval track. Hi OutofSightHound - Frosty's bitch here. Small rant - someone told me not to teach my dog to chase a bundle of tshirts because then she will chase the small fluffies and kill them. As if I could stop her from chasing the bundle of tshirts and that she can tell the difference between that and a dog perfectly well. Then again - she's not a sight hound. Esky the husky
Is the oval track fenced? Do the dogs need to be muzzled like racing greyhounds do when they run? I'm hoping to come along :)
grizabella
I'll almost definitely be coming for the August oval track run. ETH, I think muzzles are required, but it may be possible to borrow one.
Esky the husky
I do already own one, although it's plastic, hope that's acceptable.. (Goes rummaging in the dog car to find it)
Mrs Rusty Bucket
Oh, I haven't got a muzzle for evil hound, wouldn't want to surprise her with one either. Lots of loading up the end with treats. Does anyone have a link to somewhere that has suitable muzzles for "racing".

The nylon muzzles are fab as you pop them in hot water to make them a comfortable fit and then pop them in cold to set it. Also if your dog crashes they can't get poked in the face with broken wire (very rare but can happen). http://www.australiangreyhoundmuzzles.com/

OutOfSightHound
Small rant - someone told me not to teach my dog to chase a bundle of tshirts because then she will chase the small fluffies and kill them. As if I could stop her from chasing the bundle of tshirts and that she can tell the difference between that and a dog perfectly well. Then again - she's not a sight hound. Some dogs just can't help it. It's Why when GAP rehomes some dogs they advise a large to medium dog as a companion. My boy has a fondness for the chase so anywhere we go, he has his muzzle on. That way he can't do any damage. That said he's been attacked on 3 occasions by small fluffies so I'm tempted not to some times. I so wish people would stop breeding those small fluffies X,s they sell in the pet shop and on gumtree as they are nasty nasty dogs. IMHO some dogs are just so wired to chase even raising them with small dogs never makes them trustworthy. Our last GAP foster got so excited by the rubbish the wind tossed about you hand to hold him really firm or he would bolt!
Esky the husky
No one's answered yet about fencing ?? :)
OutOfSightHound
No one's answered yet about fencing ?? :) !All the areas we use are owned by Gawler greyhound club so they are really well fenced! Greys on the loose are not legal so don't worry about the fencing. It's in great repair too
Esky the husky
Cool, I was a bit worried about my husky deciding she'd rather do something else! Thanks for that, hope I can make it along :D
MsKatie
I have a kelpie who loved it last time - and I have a muzzle - hopefully can get to some of these - although might leave the hound at home this time :)
