CrazyCresties
After spending what seemed like most of the weekend cooking up food for Louis, I'm wondering if anyone sells this sort of 'home cooked' diet online anywhere? His current mix consists of beef heart, kidneys, roo and lamb meat and rib bones that have been pressure cooked until very soft and then crushed up. I also add sweet potato or squash and a 'green' mix of blitzed up veg. He also gets a 'health boost' supplement and yoghurt. After having fed nothing but raw for years, it's killing me to cook the meat, let alone even think of feeding him kibble, so wondered what the alternatives were before doing this again in a few weeks. The reason for this diet is he has IMHA and I have been advised not to feed him raw at the moment while he is immune compromised
persephone
Nature's Gift canned ? My CATS , who normally won't touch canned 'muck' love the dog variety!!! I use it for sickies or oldies :) Then you could add some yoghurt etc
CrazyCresties
Thanks pers :) I do have that as a stand-by food but I'm guess I'm after something 'meatier'.
Alibi
Ziwipeak is good :)
trinabean
A friend of mine buys this and swears by it. Not sure if your dog is ok with roo meat? It is a cooked product, and is available at a few farmers markets in Perth (Subiaco, Fremantle etc). CrazyCresties
Thanks Tina, that's just the sort of thing I was after I've looked at the tinned ziwipeak Alibi, but it's still a raw diet I believe?
trinabean
Oh good, I hope it is suitable for Louis. The ingredient list looks pretty good. I agree that Ziwipeak is a good food Alibi but I think it's still a raw product? The canned Ziwipeak is moist 'raw' food and the dry food is raw and air-dried. :)
Kirislin
If you weren't so far away I could cook for you. I've started doing extra for Iggy Mums dogs and they love it. It's definitely home cooked, I've got a batch on the stove right now. Oh good, I hope it is suitable for Louis. The friend who recommended it feeds it to her poodle and is really happy with the quality. No, it's certainly not cheap, but it seems like a good product and it will hopefully save you some work.
