Police investigate dog thefts

A 66-year-old Yackandandah man has been charged as a result of a police investigation into a series of dog thefts in the state’s north east.

Detectives from the Wodonga crime Investigation Unit today charged the man with theft and stalking offences.

He has been bailed to appear at Wodonga Magistrate’s Court on 3 September.

Police have been investigating a series of dog thefts which have occurred in the Yackandandah area over the past 18 months.

It is believed at least eight dogs had been stolen, with several being injured and subsequently dying.

The investigation into the incidents is ongoing.
