Kirislin
Just reading the blurb about VAN on vets 'n pets direct, it says you only need to soak it for 24 hours and then add it to meat, does that mean the veggies are already in the mix too? minimax
You mean the complete mix? Try their website as they have info sheets on their products. http://www.vetsallnatural.com.au/CMsheet.pdf But yes, it looks like it has dried veggies and dried fruit (air dried, apparently) in it, amongst the mass of grains. OSoSwift
Yep it is a mix that when added to meat is a complete food. The veggies are already in there along with other things.

OSoSwift
I feed it to my cats at this stage but have read up about feeding it to the dogs as well so am happy to help where possible :)
Kirislin
I'm thinking about trying it out for a while but it will take a bit more organising. If it is better for the dogs though it would be worth it, although I think my dogs are all pretty healthy now, it's just that I cook for them, and I know that's not natural. trifecta
You don't need to soak VAN for 24 hours. 10 hours is heaps of time, & if you forget, you can soak in warm to hot water to expedite the process & leave for just a couple of hours.
fbaudry
I think the 24 hours soaking period is required for the grains to start germinating. This process shouldn't be expedited IMO
OSoSwift
The VAN website says 24 hours is recommended, if you have forgotten you can use hot water and it will do it in a hour I think? But yes it needs to be left the 24hours if doing it at room temperature. I personally don't like using the hot water as I wonder if it affects the mineral, vitamens etc

Kirislin
I'm in the Yarra Valley, where are you?
Dr Bruce Syme
I think the 24 hours soaking period is required for the grains to start germinating. This process shouldn't be expedited IMO Yes, the 24 hrs is ideal, unless its the middle of summer then 12 hours is usually adequate. Fermentation happens much quicker in a warmer environment. The hot water is not recommended for every feed, but if you do sometimes forget to prepare the complete mix then soaking in warm water for an hour will get you by.
