Always Loving Mack
Weren't you after an old staffy yourself? Yes I am, but there is no info as to if he is good with other animals or cats, I feel so sorry for the poor boy
Her Majesty Dogmad
If you are looking at taking a pound dog, you would need to take your own dog up there to meet them. There are cats at HP and they can see if there's an initial reaction. HP are open at weekends if you are keen but only 9.30-11.30 on a Sat morning. The volunteers would be happy to help you by at least doing some initial testing to see if he was any good with other dogs so you didn't waste a trip,
_PL_
He is release to owner or rescue only so you can't adopt him direct, which probably means he's really showing signs of his age. Ask the girls on 'Friends of Hawkesbury Companion Animal Shelter' on Facebook for more info.

huntrox
what a beautiful boy, poor darling, why carnt someone from the public just adopt him and give him a loving home?
_PL_
They fully vetwork with adoptions now so he may not be up to going through that at this point in time.
Loving my Oldies
I can't believe with all Hawkesbury's experience they would no let a member of the public adopt him. They must know that there are lots of people who love older dogs and that all they want for them to to give them the best life for whatever time they have left. He looks such a gorgeous old soul. Just ridiculous.
Her Majesty Dogmad
Maybe he has lumps that need investigation and/or in major need of a dental. Most of my dogs' dentals have cost me $600 and they haven't had teeth that were that bad as I've regularly done dentals etc. Perhaps it is because they know many people wouldn't be up for all of that. If interested, I'd ring and check why this is the situation.

shmoo
This boy is release to rescue only due to very poor quality back legs that need further investigation. Edited June 7, 2013 by shmoo
