ktn
Hi everyone, Daisy my 12 year old silky x girl is making some loud swallowing sounds for a few days but I don't think she's licking much more than normal, has no diarrhoea just normal stools. We had some dramas with another dear dog just passing away so I'm wondering if it could be stress. Is the loud swallowing issue something to be concerned about? Rosetta
Sorry to hear you are having such a stressful time. Does she sound like she is choking or coughing? Hard to say what the cause could be - best to get the vet to check her out. Stress can have all sorts of effects including reverse sneezing but only one way to be sure. I hope things improve for you and your girl soon.
Podengo
Elsie was doing that the other day, for probably about half an hour. Just really loud swallowing, no drool, no gas, poop was solid... As quickly as it came, it was gone again
ktn
Thanks for the responses. Not choking of coughing. She's always had nasal sounds and snores I think since she has only a few teeth. I would say it sounds like a gulping sound but no other symptoms so I'm not very worried yet. I'll start feeding plain food for a bit to see if it's nausea. We're due for a vet visit soon.
