Puppy Vomited

Tank vomited around 3:00am.

Just a little in his crate and then twice again afterwards. The first one in his crate contained more gunky vomit with one solid bit - looked like a small bit of poo. The next two (out of crate) were watery clearer frothy bile-like.

Is he okay?

I don't think he over ate yesterday - maybe a little. I did cut mince yesterday (more so because I ran out) and didn't soak his dry food in water.

I just tried to get him to drink some water, but no interest.

I checked his crate and there is no trace of poo or smell so I don't think he ate that and then vomit it up.

He's back sleeping again now in his crate.

I'll keep an eye on him rest of the night. We both have to work in office today but can both duck home at lunch to check.

Feed him a small breakfast this morning, and see if he'll drink water.

It's possible he's eaten/chewed something that didn't agree with him.

Odds are he'll be fine this morning - pups usually bounce back pretty quickly from tummy upsets.

If he's not interested in breakfast or water this morning, maybe duck home at lunch and if he's still off, take him to the vet.

T.

The 3am vomit is a regular occurrence in our house. Usually it's because they need to get rid of a bit of bone, sometimes puppies and dogs can get hungry too which can make them vomit.

When Max was little I could set my watch by her puking, and it was always 3am. Luckily she grew out of it!

What is it with pups and 3am puking :doh:

Banjo has chucked a couple of times in the early hours of the morning and I was beside myself with worry .... this thread has allayed my fears and I am putting it down to just a puppy thing .... his vomit has mostly just been frothy biley stuff .... nothing of substance. He gets his breakfast at 4.30 though, so I am not getting up an earlier to feed him if it's an empty tummy! He always scoffs most of his breakfast down!

So glad I'm reading this all now so if Koda does this when I get him I won't be fretting like a mad man. as long as he recovers within the day then I can put it down to puppy stomachs, otherwise will seek vet advice

I think it's so weird how they can vomit if they're hungry.<br style="color: rgb(34, 34, 34); font-family: verdana, tahoma, arial, sans-serif; line-height: 18px; background-color: rgb(238, 242, 247);">Little monsters

How is it weird?

Their tummy is empty ... acid /bile produced is very irritating to the sensitive stomach lining .... So the body does the only thing it can , and expels it!

Have you ever starved yourself?

Humans do it too, I was on a hike in Africa with the old man and we got trapped in a 6 day storm, 4 days without food and you start vomiting.
