kelpiecuddles
Anyone have any good tips for spots I could camp with my kids and dogs on our way from the Sth Coast to Melbourne? In the vicinity of Yass to Albury would be good. The dogs are quiet and well behaved and will happily just sleep in the mid section of our tent and will be kept on leash so doesn't need to be fenced. Thinking state forest camping areas, etc? We travel to Melbourne fairly regularly as my parents live there and in the past have just done it in one day but as my husband is currently posted overseas I have to travel on my own and sometimes it's just too far in one day on my own. I'd also be interested if anyone knows of small cabin/caravan park style accomodation (they can sleep outside in their crates if necessary) that will allow dogs if the weather isn't going to be nice enough to camp. Panto
download an app called wikicamps RE caravan parks, big4 ones don't advertise dog friendly, it is up to the manager's discretion. So unless they say 'no dogs/pets', it is worthwhile calling and asking. enjoy the trip! eta: the app is $2-3 but is well worth it. It will show you which ones are free/dog friendly etc. maps and contact details, photos and even user reviews. kelpiecuddles
I found one that gets raving reviews in Jugiong. Jgiong Park, free, pet friendly, don't have to book, reviews say it's grassy with nice shady trees, has a toilet block(but no showers), kids playground and a pool! Sounds fabulous so we are going to check it out next week if the weather obliges
Trisven13
And Jugiong is beautiful!!! Pack very, very warm sleeping stuff though as it will be quite likely below zero overnight.

espinay2
Gunning is about a half an hour on the Sydney side of Yass: http://www.visitnsw....on/barbour-park There are quite a few free places along various routes. A lot of the 'grey nomads' know about them and use them so google search on caravanning sites etc for more. kelpiecuddles
Is that a campsite or cabins? Free or paid? I'm getting a bit of a list going as we travel fairly often and it's nice to have a few options depending on the weather and time of year

kelpiecuddles
Thanks :) Do you know whether you can book the cabins as long as the dogs sleep outside? My girls will quite happily sleep on the porch in their crate or even in the back of the car if needed
