Yep and fleeing a Vizsla this time. As you can see this is one "shy" dog

 run away! run away!

I have to say if I was Dodger I'd be running for my life from Flick. She uses him as her very own Vizsla chew toy

Poor Dodge, he loves playing with the big sighthound babies. A few months later they see him and rush towards him to continue the game and they tower over him.

Still, he's now personal trainer for a Borzoi girl. Will have to get some pics of that!

Timid Whippet being attacked by extremely shy 14 week old Deerhound. They were almost the same size - not any more!

Poor deerhound puppy, I think it's choking on that whippet.

Why haven't you posted these photos before.

Most end up on FB.. :o

And you know, when you have showdogs with a common temperament fault like shyness, you really don't want to draw attention to it.

But now the cat's out of the bag - one more of that bashful Deerhound baby with Dodger. Those photos were taken the first time they'd met.

Darn they are cute!!!

My whippy came from a petshop ( before i learnt my lesson), and she was a thug.

Stormys whippys are a force to be reccond (sp) with, certainly not timid!

If I was ever to upsize it would be to to a Deerhound or a Borzoi.

There IS timidity in sight hounds but I refute any suggestion that its common.

Frankly I think that observation tends to stem from ignorance created by comparisons with other breeds by people who don't know them well and an assumption that greyhounds raised in racing kennels are a good indicator of temperament in a range of breeds developed for a range of purposes some of which included guarding.

I dont think originally whippets would have been bred to have outgoing temperaments. If I was poaching with a whippet the last thing I'd want is for it to go running up to farmer Brown for a pat and to say hello.

My pet pups are around $950, with the usual wormed, vacc'd, chipped, Dogs NSW registered, raised in the house and very well socialised, crate training and house training commenced.

Show potential pups are by private treaty.

I'm going to do a mating this year that should produce some very naughty babies for the potential sports enthusiast

I'm actually surprised that pups are so reasonably priced. If you told me you sold your pet pups for $1500 I wouldn't have bat an eye. I have never looked into the prices for whippets though so had no idea. I love them, I think they are gutsy little dogs.

Possibly not but they would have required stability, so that they didn't bugger off at the first person that said "boo" to them, or when they came across a stranger.

Love the photos :) yep I would say $800 to $1000 as a general rule :)

Some sighthounds can be a bit stand offish with people they don't know, they are not timid they just see no worth in talking to an unknown person. They will put up with people patting them but will not shower them with affection.

Then........ You have the type of Whippets mine are........

Visitors come into the house and they are jumped on - by one in particular - I have to send them to their bed do they don't embarrass me totally, then they sneak off and are all over them again before you know it. Turn you back and they are sitting on your visitors lap getting their belly scratched. It's do embarrassing!!!!!

I don't care if a paper is published, it was not a true representation of sighthounds and their temperment

I have an assortment of temperaments here and both of what you've mentioned are represented in our household. It was the aloof type of whippet I fell in love with.
