Urgent Females - Gsd And Lab Cross Needing Help

Recommended Posts

The owner of these two dogs has had a job change that is taking him away from home regularly.

Rosie is an 8 yr old German Shepherd that is not coping well with her owner's constant absence, she is more shy with strangers but a very loving dog. She loves other dogs, playing ball, walks etc. She was from a registered breeder.

Dexie is a 3 yr old Lab cross (with a Husky but much more Lab like in behaviour). Dexie was adopted from her owner - through me - a year ago. She came from a home where she wasn't walked or allowed inside and has thrived in this home, it's so very sad that she once again has to move on. Dexie plays ball and loves walks etc.

These girls have had all vet work done. Both dogs are extremely good with other dogs - even small ones - cats and people alike. They are housetrained and have lived inside and enjoy regular walks etc.

The current owner is going away overseas for a longer period and moving, at the end of May so I would like to rehome or at least find a foster carer(s) for them asap.

Of course it would be great if they could go together but I think that will be unlikely to be achieved so a home with other dog(s) etc would be great.

Hi dogmad, I recommend you contact Burkes or Raelene on here & see about getting a poster out on the rescue network in Canberra. A4 size is best & a good pic certainly helps. The poster will be circulated electronically to most government departments, the unis, hospitals..... In fact people print them off & they appear all over the region!

Would he pay for kennels if you don't find anything in time?

I know last time Dexie's owner put her in kennels for a few months while trying to home her, not sure where it was, but she was out in a big paddock allday and looked happy there, he may know which one it was.

It's really sad, these two dogs are absolutely wonderful, they have beautiful temperaments and love each other.

I'm just hoping we can find 2 fantastic homes for them in the short timeframe.

They'll be ok in seperate homes a d dont need to go together?

Am i right in saying Dogmad that Dexie is more lab in temp than husky? She was when i knew her, might be easier to rehome?

she was goofy friendly ball of fun who loved everyone before.

  • 3 weeks later...

bumping my thread, sadly we have followed up on a few options for these dogs (separately) and nothing has panned out. Both have one more appointment each in the next few days but we will be desperate for help if nothing has been found by the next weekend.

Both are wonderful dogs. Dexie's even good with chickens and ducks.

Rosie the Shep has been advertised on the GSD Facebook page which has brought up a few enquiries too.
