zeebie
Do dog owners think that having one bitch as a pet who is never around other dogs affect the estrous cycle? as opposed having a bitch constantly in a pack with other cycling bitches and stud dogs in kennels etc? At what stage/age would you really start to become concerned if bitch has not had first season?
Rebanne
My GSD bitch had no problems coming into season and lived with another desexed bitch. Greyhounds can be very slow, the line mine come from rarely come in before 16 months and often not until 2 or so.
Fordogs
I have 1 bitch whose first season was at 16 months, others that have a first at 13 months.
OSoSwift
I have one who has been around many dogs adn didn't cucle until 18 months - same as her grandmother. She currently is exposed to many dogs and bitches in season and still does what she does which is cycle around 7 monthly
Diva
Oldest I have had was 22 months, regular 9 month seasons after that. Large breed. Kept with other bitches so it was not that, just a later bloomer.
frufru
My first show dog lived with one one other dog, (a desexed bitch) and she had her first season at 14months and was as regular as clockwork every 6 months until she was desexed. My mini bitch came in around the same age and does not have a 6 mth cycle (she lived with another - very regular bitch for several years) and this did not change her own pattern. All different - though I do think bitches in a large pack will eventually have cycles that are similar Edited April 17, 2013 by frufru
DeltaCharlie
Ours don't tend to start until 14 months or so, that is living with and constantly being exposed to entire males and females. Ours cycle every 9-10 months or so, never clockwork, and never at the same time  They start when their body decides its right to start :)
Stitch
Nah, they come into season all by themselves however being near other bitches in season can sometimes bring a bitch into season...but not always! If you are concerned take your girl to a repro specialist vet and get her examined...also ask the breeder as he/she will know or should know her dogs.
