trojka
There is a name I really really like for a distant future dog, but when I told someone they pointed out that the dog's name would rhyme with mine and it was 'too much'. Im on the fence about the name now. E.g person named Jo with a dog named Mo or a Dora with a dog named Zora. But I thought it might be interesting to find out what else is a no go for people, ex's names? Friends kids names? Famous names? I think I am a bit of an odd one as I spend so long choosing a name and it has to be a relatively uncommon name. That's actually my name. And no, I wouldn't call a dog Dora, apart from the fact I don't like the name I would find it a bit weird personally, but each to their own. I also had a friend name her pup Aurelie, which also happens to be the name of a mutual friend of ours. Human Aurelie thought it a bit strange, and so do I. Don't think they're friends anymore. Was listening to the radio the other day, a guy called and you could hear a dog yapping in the background. The radio presenters asked what the dog's name was.....it was DogDog. I prefer unusual names, but it does get a little tiring having to repeat your dog's name over and over to other people. MUP, I love the name Maybe!

MUP, I love the name Maybe! Haha thank you! I was out at my friend's farm the other day and they had a visitor and I was calling her back off the sheep. "Maybe, here!" "Maybe, Here" and he's just looked over and gone "Well make up your bloody mind!". I hear variations of that a lot lol
Ben and Jerry
I get asked all the time if I named my dog Jerry because of Ben and Jerry's ice cream. Had no idea there was even an ice cream by that name until it got mentioned enough, I just let people know it's what he was named at the RSPCA and I couldn't be bothered changing it. My dog is called Zora too It's a great name :D I chose it because I wanted something Slovenian as a tribute to my great grandma but it had to sound the same way it was spelled, so I didn't have to hear people saying it wrong. Mrs Rusty Bucket
To go with "Maybe" you could name the next dog "guess". We could start a thread with favourite names for dogs... sure it's been done but... I always wondered why Makybe sounded so familiar. So to go with Maybe - you could also have "Diva" especially if it's a fast bitch.
mixeduppup
I met a dog the other day called "Straya" (short for Australia, as they adopted him on Australia day.) They'd called him "chester" at the rescue and when they found out his name they looked really disappointed. lol

I know. Always makes me smile when I read a post about her. You've got good taste. :D I actually know another dog named Zora, I'd always turn around when her owner called her. It's strange when you're not used to hearing your name all that often, unless someone is actually addressing you. I guess people with more common names would be used to that, though. Alibi
I would never name a dog kaos or trouble and names like that as I feel animals grow into their names and I don't want to tempt fate lol.

Cosmolo
I want names that i can say easily and quickly. I am still a little undecided with regards to my new horses name. I love the name Rolex- but hate the way i say it because i speak with a lisp So i called him Dempster instead which i do love- then someone pointed out it sounds like Dexter which is one of my dogs.. My other horse i named Fletcher which i love and the other came with the name Buddy. I desperately wanted to change it but had already known the horse as Buddy for months so it was too weird to change it. Gilbert was named after a footy player and our next female dog will be called Morgan just because i love the name!

Dory the Doted One
I briefly toyed with calling a dog Bradley. It was an idea universally disliked by everyone bar me.
Bjelkier
I don't like giving dogs people names because it was too awkward with my old dog being a Kerry at the same time 2 of my brothers were engaged to girls called Kerry! Thankfully I am yet to meet a human named Doofus I met a dog at the dog park called precious too. That's out, it was like a scene from lord of the rings watching those owners yelling out for their precious all arvo I was tempted by that name when I was looking at the Havanese, mostly because of Silence of the Lambs but I figure most people wouldn't get the joke and just think I was a typical girly girl calling my little fluffy dog Precious
mita
come on, you cannot say his name doesn't suit him. He's full of mischief and play. Puck suits him perfectly. That's exactly what Shakespeare's Puck was like... a spirit full of jokes & mischief. "I am that merry wanderer of the night.' Here's an actor (dancer, in this case) playing Puck. See the resemblance to your boy? V. handsome pair. :) http://www.examiner.com/article/colorado-ballet-presents-a-midsummer-night-s-dream Edited April 3, 2013 by mita
Justrace
My human kids all have different names Good thinking, or it might get a bit awkward knowing who you are calling out to if they were all called the same bahahaha should have really read how that sounded. littlesev
This might be unpopular opinion but I'm not a big fan of Cookie/Cupcake/Noodle/Sprinkles, basically food-based names  Also, super long ones like say, Princess Lily Garnet til Alexandros and then the dog's called Pri. I don't 'hate' them, just not for me personally since it seems wasteful lol.
Mudlark
Puck is a lovely, cheeky looking lad :) Am now officially regretting not calling my dog Puck. Maybe I need to get a second Labrador....
