wantsapuppy
So ive told hubby that we are getting a puppy for jaZ. She LOVES dogs and they always make he smile :) as some of you have seen in t off topic thread jaz is incredibly sick so Althing that will make her smile and laugh and have fun is a must. Having said that it will be exercised by me and looked after by me . I've been eyeing of labs and I'm pretty sure this is the dog for us. So I guess my questions are what do we need? What are the essentials , non essentials but won't hurt all that. And can any lab owners recommend me a good breeder of black and yellow labs
julesluvscavs
Can't answer anything to do with your Lab questions, but just wanted to pop in to say how exciting for you all !! Puppies are so much fun and will provide hours of entertainment, enjoyment and smiles ! Edited March 29, 2013 by Jules❤3Cavs

nickyp
It might be worth getting in touch with Guide Dogs Victoria to see if you could have one of their "Reclassified Dogs". It wouldn't be a puppy, but it would be a lovely, well-bred dog and you wouldn't have to go through all the bumpy puppy stages, like teething, house training, etc. NB: I know that link says their waiting list is currently closed, but it can't hurt to contact them. They may also be able to put you in touch with other organisations who might have similar dogs. Edited March 30, 2013 by popsicle
piper
I would try contacting the various assistance dog/pets as therapy organisations as your daughter's case for 1 is very genuine. And this would mean you have a well bred, trained and matched to your needs dog without the added stress of managing puppy/adolescent behaviour with your daughter's health issues. Bundyburger
I agree with trying for an assistance dog as itll take some of the stress out of it for you :) However mum got a lab pup yesterday and she is ace. Knows where her bed is and is starting to get the hang of sit too. Very clever dogs.
