shirra
Before I brought my pup home she was chipped and registered by the breeder. The breeder had also submitted change of ownership paperwork to her local council. The breeder gave me the paperwork from the vet and the registration. My vet scanned her and confirmed the chip number. I waited until after the pup had grown some, and been de-sexed before I went to my council to submit my forms for lifetime registration. While there I asked her to fix the date of birth which had been entered into the database incorrectly by the breeder's council. I was told by my council that they don't have the level of access to alter date of birth. It's only out by 6 months, but it annoys me! The breeder should have noticed at the time, but I forgive her as she was in the middle of moving house and dealing with a family drama, and had more on her plate than checking all details on the registration papers. Does anyone know if I can get the date corrected somewhere? Especially as I have the original vet's paperwork. Or am I being anal ..... Edited March 31, 2013 by lou_x

Ellis
12mths ago I rang my local council to change the address for 1 x cat & 1 x dog. I was told I would need to go in, fill in a form & provide the microchip number. If they both have lifetime registration & have always lived in the same council area, why did I have to supply the microchip number? Should it not have been on their records already? You don't need to go in person. You can download a change of details form from the DLG website and possibly also your local council site. Complete the form and post it to the council. The form also will ask you for the chip number. I would think it is to ensure they have the details required to locate the entry on the database and update it. The database is state-wide and is accessible by all councils in NSW. It's not locally held by individual councils.
Steve
Submissions are now open for this http://www.dlg.nsw.gov.au/dlg/eventregistration/eventstaskforce/TaskForceRegister.asp?mi=25&ml=1&AreaIndex=FB2 Clearly when they called for submissions before many many more animal welfare/ animal rights responded than did breeders Go now and read really well the submissions and answer the survey as this IS your last chance to have your input . Gather your friends and neighbours and recruit them into answering - dont leave this alone.
inez
I put this comment on it. Did I make sense? Must have had 6 goes, it kept telling me the code had timed out. The real issues are. It should be illegal to sell or buy an unvaccinated, unmicrochipped pup. This will bring millions of hereto invisible dogs to registration. No pup can be advertised without its microchip number. Registering breeders is never going to find those who choose not too. The above two will find them. Educate the public not to buy unless its vaccinated and chipped. NO puppy is too small to chip, the zoos even chip their stock smaller than any new born pup of even toy breeds. The Animal welfare recommendation 2 ignores that the majority of people who do breed a litter have only a few dogs which are their pets, They do not want to have to keep their dogs in concrete runs like commercial breeders. Then the really BIG issue not even listed here. Our Governments and Councils allow this group (RSPCA) to assist in formulating power for themselves for which they are accountable to NO ONE. Not even the Federal Police, let alone our State Police are exempt? WHEN DID AUSTRALIA CEASE TO BE A DEMOCRACY WHEN THE RSPCA IS INVOLVED? Government should make the number one priority , address this anomaly first and foremost, why increase the powers of this group, before accountability? read Hansard Leon Mills, (a former Public prosecutor) dated 3rd June 2010 The Honorable Members General Purpose Standing Committee No.5 Edited April 3, 2013 by inez
