I know it may have been explained before but could you do it for me again?

I always thought if a dog in the pound was chipped they called the number on the chip and are given 14 days ,Surrenders are on limited time thats really all I know .

I asked about EIO"S and was told its like a waiting list .

My question is why are some eio"s and some plain outright immediate sale?

does it have anything to do with their breed temp or condition?

who decides?

AND

Is it a fair system?

For me I would have thought someone wanting to adopt a dog there and then would be a good thing --(of course providing they are good people etc without knowing lets just say they are)

I had a quick look on pets on line and there are alot with EIOs is this a longer system to help the dog or would it be better they are for adoption and are simply adopted .

******Please bare in mind Im writing on the assumption people are good people adopting for this line of question anyway ************* :)

The last time I adopted from the pound I went in walked up and down picked the dog I wanted paid signed the rego form and walked out

If a dog is up for adoption, ie stayed the required time for that particular pound from time of impoundment, that is what happens.

What does EIO stand for?

You're talking several issues.

The NSW Companion Animal Legislation predicts the minimum length of time they are held for.

The individual pound determines the process by which dogs are sold or disposed of.

Expression of interest DD.

I gather before impound is done you can place an EOI. If it's after due date the animal can go immediately after processing. Hence 'for immediate sale'

:)

IMHO yes it's fair & such a big improvement from the tenders, and they do full adoption vetwork now too.
