Rescuing Dogs From The Taree Area Continues

I feel the need to write this, to set the record straight.

Recently I was contacted by someone in regards to a rescue stating I was responsible for dogs being killed in our pound.

The person had emailed this rescue asking if they would rescue a dog at our pound and was rightly concerned by the response.

I already knew this rescue group had pulled out of our pound, and their excuse being, I had slandered them.

The real reason which I have records of was that I disagreed on one solitary rescue group's ethics and would not assist them getting dogs from our pound (they do not need to go through me anyway) they can go straight through council.

At the time the rescue in question also stated they were intending to start a petition to encourage other groups to stop helping our pound dogs.

I put it behind me feeling it was just someone having a tantrum and continued helping our pound dogs that had no local adoption or rescue.

Almost a year later and with a euthanasia rate that continues to drop, I find out they have been sending out these emails to people when they contact the group and the accusations are being made repeatedly. I have asked the rescue in question to stop the emails, but had no luck and they still continue.

I feel I deserve a right of reply and the truth to be told. Point of fact: they supported Pound Rounds, I didn't.

They felt that single difference was significant enough to unconditionally pull support and encourage others to do so. I have the messages to prove that is the truth.

I don't intend to make threats of legal action or accusations of defamation/slander/libel, I find that tedious and counter productive. Please do not contact me asking who the rescue is.

Nothing will stop us working for our pound dogs. However if there is information going out that I should not or will not be approached regarding rescue assistance, this negatively affects our work here.

Many thanks to the groups who have been stepping up to help. We couldn't do it without you.

Sad that the focus on what is best for the dogs gets lost in the quagmire.

Good on you for setting the record straight. Also for getting on with your work helping save dogs.

I hope anyone receiving emails that just drum up drama will ignore them. And, like you, get on with the positive.

It seems to be alive and well, shocked that almost a year later that I find out what has been going on.

The dogs may get over looked by this one rescue, but many other wonderful rescues support our pound dogs and for that I am thankful for

Thanks Mita, I felt this need to be addressed in case people are getting the wrong idea about our pound and the dogs in need, who knows how many emails are circulating!

With the photo's, a new lady has just started to help and her photography skills are amazing and very lucky to have her, the photo's makes the dogs look so good and get a better accuracy on what they look like than the old ones.

I've been copping it again from the Greyhound Racing - Don't Bet On It people so I know how it feels to have to deal with those who are "reality-challenged" (to put it nicely).

It's always disappointing to see ego getting in the way of helping dogs and I've noticed Facebook tends to make it much worse. One person with their own agenda (not necessarily an agenda that helps dogs) can quickly obtain a following because there's no direct debate, just the sneaky slinging of rumours. Having that following gives them power and the ability to influence other peoples' opinions. That in itself is worrying, it's even worse when the people in question are bat-sh*t crazy to start with.

Malti, you have my sympathy- some people are more concerned with pushing their own barrows than actually saving dogs and it really does suck.

Malti, please pass on my congratulations to the lady. Her photography skills do the dogs proud. Positive things like that make time & space- wasting emails look pathetic by comparison.

HA, I agree what you said about Facebook. There's the best of it and the worst of it. The best is like what's being presented in the Taree Dogs page. The worst of it, is people having a public platform with nothing to balance what they say. Many people, tho', are becoming suss about that & keep an open mind.

It did make me laugh about 'people pushing their own barrows' sadly true though, it is nice to contact good people who aren't bat-sh*t crazy though and truly caring about the dogs than their own egos

I passed your message on to the photographer, she believes it comes down to editing but I know that is a lie, my old photo's could have been edited and they still wouldn't have come out looking like that.
