Vet Suggestions For The Blacktown Area

 Share

Recommended Posts

Another post for today. I'm 2 weeks off picking up my Labrador puppy and am looking for suggestions on vets and puppy preschools. I am in the Blacktown/Quakers Hill area in western Sydney. I have taken the birds to a vet in Kellyville but I was looking for one a bit closer - it takes about 25-30 mins to get to Kellyville.

Quakers Hill Vet

Yep totally agree... They took excellent care of my old man when he was sick last year...

But PLEASE do your research into how you want to train your pup before you go to their puppy preschool, it is total chaos with pups of all ages let to run around and barrel each other over and very "old school" methods of teaching pups how to do things. I would NOT recommend it.

ETA- the puppy preschool isn't run by a vet or vet nurse, but by one of their clients.

I used Cheeky pup at Baulkham Hills and would highly recommend Dorothy, she was excellent. I actually got her to pet sit while I was away for a week recently and she really went above and beyond.

I would recommend Box Hill Vets but that is probably too far from you. I go there even though it takes me 20-25 mins to get there. Cannot speak highly enough of them.

Thanks! I did look at their puppy preschool. I will cross it off my list though! I have been looking at Cheeky Pup at Blacktown for preschool

Dorothy runs some of her Canine Kindy classes from our hospital - she's a lovely woman and the clients and pups that attend always seem to have a good time. We have worked jointly on a few patients as well - I'm happy with her approach to training and behavioural modification.

Another vote for Quakers hill vet ( not the one on the parkway, there are 2).

They have a few vets there, my pref is Blair , everyone has a different opinion on who they like there.

They are a no nonsense, won't charge for stuff you don't need vets, plus you get to see lots of greys when Blair or Matt is on, they take up the carpark!

Awesome! Having spoken to a few of my friends and what's been said on here I'm pretty certain that that's where I'll be heading! Google maps says its 12 minutes from home which is awesome!! Thanks everyone!! :D

Just make sure you call first to see whose on, you generally have to sit and wait, and Bair and Matt normally have lots waiting to see them, i know Blair does have days when he takes appointments.

Another one for Quakers Hill Vet - I always ring to find out who is on first if you are wanting to more than just standard vaccinations - The 3 senior vets Blair, Matt and Michael ( although they each have there areas of expertise)are all very good.

They also have great hours of availability and are open Sunday mornings as well. They also do a lot of their own after hours emergency work unlike a number of other clinics which refer you to the specialist after hours centres.
