Dame Aussie
Just noticed Mosley licking at one of his back legs in the inner thigh area (upper leg but not groin) and it looked quite red. I had a better look and there is an area of skin that is red and broken in spots. No pus etc, it doesn't look terrible. I tried to move his hair and he gave a "that hurts" growl so I've left him alone. He's happy, acting normally, snoozing now. I'll get a better look when OH gets home and can hold him but could it be a hot spot? Flea allergy? They get sentinel spectrum and I've not seen any fleas? Any ideas? Should I try and clean it or just leave him be for now? Thanks guys :)
Her Majesty Dogmad
Might have touched some Wandering Jew. One of mine was licking and licking and the area looked red and sore. I got the Paw Paw ointment out and rubbed well in, he was all good later that day!
Dame Aussie
I don't know if we have any but it's quite possible! There's a few unknown plants in corners of the yard!
bianca.a
It could be a hotspot but I think that would be an unusual place for one? If he starts licking at it you will need to stop him as if it is a HS, that will make it worse
suziwong66
perhaps he might benefit from an area wash with Malaseb to get some relief from the irritation? My choc lab has summer-long skin irritations and i bathe him a few times a week with Malaseb and condition with Aloveen to give him relief from the itching and the irritation of the redness, sores and scabs that form. Hope your boy feels better soon.
tdierikx
Do you have any Neocort? It has an anaesthetic component in it that will help ease Moseley's discomfort. T.
fbaudry
Malaseb is good to clean bacterial infections but might be drying out the skin in the long run; I apply Alpha Keri lotion on the affected areas, as recommended by my dermatologist vet. We tried Calendula tea but it didn't seem to soothe my pooch.
