She's been known to wake me up in the middle of the night because she can smell bananas in the fruit bowl and wants one. And I've been silly enough to give her one.

:coffeesplurk:

I am hoping for a burst blood vessel diagnosis so Kirislin can breathe again :)

 It's true! She's so damn cute she gets away with all sorts of things. I can just imagine if she's going to have a little pirates patch over her missing eye she'll be even cuter and get away with even more stuff.

The video is hilarious, Kirislin. I am worried though that she is having gender issues - LOL. My Danny does that, even with getting the cushion/mat/bed in his mouth. But he doesn't just walk away. He then humps the bejesus out of it and afterwards lies there exhausted licking himself. For a little dog, he is quite well endowed. His antics sometime gets Jeune very stirred up too with her performance being ears back, little squeals and jumping in the funny side to side way that dogs do.

Oh Kirislin, sorry to hear about Kibah. When my girl developed glaucoma last year and had to have her eye removed, it all happened so fast and I was in just as much shock as you are no doubt feeling right now. Don't worry tho, I'm sure Kibah will adapt remarkably well to having one eye. After the initial soreness of the surgery and the whole getting used to it process was over, Emma was up and about like nothing had changed. And Kibah will still look beautiful.

Look at the glorious condition on Kibah... she's definitely NOT an "old" dog by a long shot. If she requires any surgery, I don't think the vet is going to be worried about her physical state or fitness for surgery at all.

Fingers crossed it's just a little injury that will respond well to some medicated drops...

sadly she isn't getting any drops because the vet doesn't think it's an injury. He did the dye test and the surface of her eye is intact. He said she wont need drops if it's just been a little bleed in her eye, so what we are hoping for is that the spot will dissapate on its own, but I feel in my heart that is not going to happen. I think I spotted it very early and now I'll be watching it closely. Any change other than it shrinking means her eye must come out.

That photos was taken a couple of years ago but she is still in fantastic shape, and physically you wouldn't know she's about to turn 13, she looks like a much younger dog, so I'm hoping that is in her favour.

Kibah's condition is a credit to your upbringing of her Kirislin - all of your dogs are simply stunning and really healthy. I just know that if Kibah needs any sort of surgery, she's going to sail through it like a true pro and all your worry will have been for nothing, OK?

If she does need to lose an eye, she won't react to the situation like we would - dogs are amazingly resilient and can adapt to these things much better than we do. And you can then make her some really cool doggy eye patches to wear for photo shoots... *grin*

thankyou all so much,it's encouraging to know that there's lots of dogs out there who've been through it and are fine. It made me realise something too, whenever I've seen photos of dogs or cats for that matter with missing eyes or limbs I realise their owners really love them. I think it always crosses my mind subconsciously.

Thanks tdierikx, if I looked after myself as well as I care for them I'd live to 100.

There's a 12 yr old Boston who comes to the same dog park as I do. She had to have BOTH eyes out last year. It's a big 13 acre fenced dog park...members only...so dogs are well behaved. This old girl walks all around the park off lead, slowly, and you hardly even notice her handicap. Her owner says it sounds like an awful operation, but really, it isn't that bad for a dog. After all, it's pretty common for eyes to pop out on pugs and other bug-eyed breeds. The surgery is minimally invasive. Hope it turns out to be nothing, but the case you're worrying about isn't that bad.

Sorry to hear Kibah has a problem, hopefully it will sort itself out and no further investigation or surgery will be needed.

If it is thoug, she will probably amaze you with how well she copes and adapts to any change required to save her..

Our dogs are amazingly adaptable creatures..

She is such a pretty girl and certainly doesn't look her age.

Ha ha, great minds !! First thing I though of seeing that beautiful face on photograph was how marvellous a pirate patch would look -LOL.

Have you seen a specialist, Kirislin, if you think your vet is mistaken?

It will be interesting to see what Iggy's Mum thinks and to see the photo.
