I think shes going through a toddler stage atm She was desexed recently but it didn't stop her from acting like her normal self . It was quite a non event actually. Nothing seems to faze her. Been waiting to see if she goes through any of those fear phases ive read about, but none so far *touch wood* We are totally captivated by her We are hoping to start some training courses with her, as I think she will need the extra stimulation especially for her mentally. JackC Posted June 12, 2013 Share Posted June 12, 2013 (edited) Well done smash, socialization is great for all dogs, my breeder also told me to get Koda out as much as i can during his first 3 months and its working well, only blocking bad behaviour and letting them discover things on there own, even discovering it can hurt if you play with big dogs to aggressively, just like us we learn from our mistakes so letting a dog make a mistake (within reason and safe environment) can help its learning. Lhok Posted June 12, 2013 Share Posted June 12, 2013 (edited) Wow I had forgotten about this thread Yesterday Raiden passed his first exam to be my assistance dog :) it wasn't very hard as it was a meet and greet and he did very well. The landshark didn't appear at all and he even kept all four paws on the ground :D The lady who came to meet him told me he was very soft and cuddly and oh how ever so handsome he is :D Today however the landshark is back with revengence (in joke as Raiden is named after the main character from metal gear rising Revengence) Another fantastic thing is he is finally not weeing in his crate every chance he gets and can go 5 hours without doing it. smashtank Posted June 12, 2013 Share Posted June 12, 2013 Yeah it was good to hear from people who seem to know what they're doing that I'm on the right track (not that I don't get that from this forum but you know - its different in person!!!). I'm determined to not have to use a harness on Tank... I know people go on about how they're safer for Frenchies, but to me I shouldn't need a harness because my dog should walk beside me on a loose lead. Tank is pretty good at this - he's pretty much always behind me when we walk. This morning he only ran in front once when the rubbish truck startled him a bit (glass bottles......). Tank can go pretty much through the night without a pee now - we went to bed at 9:30 last night and I was so zonked I didn't wake up until 4. JackC Posted June 12, 2013 Share Posted June 12, 2013 hey guys, koda has been living outside when i go to work (coming back at lunch break or making sure my OH is only one one shift) but lately it has been getting cold and wet, the last two days I have had to dry him off allot when i come home at lunch, he isn't shaking and doesn't feel cold but i am worried he might get ill from me letting him stay outdoors in this bad weather, I have setup the laundry this morning with some fake grass and water and bed and he is in there now till my lunch break, do you think I'm being an overprotective dad and I should just let him outside (he has a kennel under a covered alfresco) Jack Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

He has outdoor access and the laundry like yours, but at the moment OH is home with him (first day alone tomorrow) He happily goes out and plays with his soccer ball in the pouring rain, doesn't phase him. Thanks cassie, I thought this but wanted to be sure before letting him out again, he does like the rain, and I noted he was using his kennel yesterday as the bedding was a little dirty and damp in parts, its an easy dry bono fido mat inside the kennel so its really good for drying quickly, 10min in the dryer and its done. I will let him back out at lunch time :D the Kennel is raised off the floor, its plastic but its a good size and strength for him at his age and seems to block any cold really well. OH and him walk to pick me up from the station after work, about ten mins, and he has to stop in every puddle and have a little 'swim' Nevermind that it's 10 degrees and pouring...
