Fingers crossed! And thanks all of you for the support. I will definitely go to the show for at least one day this weekend :) This particular show is a couple hours away from us (most are at the Dogs SA grounds, which is a much more manageable 40 min drive) so it's taking a bit more forward planning than usual! All he seems to want to do with other dogs is play, play and then play some more...! At least he's not scared of them I guess. She wants one when she moves from an apartment and offered to kidnap him if he's misbehaving and said she'll stay back late to meet him next Monday. Had an entire great dane he never bothered much with who lived in his courtyard. Not the dogs fault but I am led to believe he was an awful dog, no training, no boundaries, no nothing. So she comes over last night to see Gus and he was in bed, so she picked him up to have a sleepy puppy cuddle and he was all about that, til Dr Dipsh*t decided to wind him up (at 10:30pm) and get him to bite his fingers, which we have been strongly discouraging. He then quizzed us on why we wouldn't want to breed with him, cause he's got 'papers' so you could 'make some quick money'. I wanted to knee him in his stupid face. So they left about 11 and pup was up til 2 wound up and nippy and didn't want to sleep. I just looked at my friend when he was carrying on like 'really?' and told him he was a fool. She wanted to know if I had to wake up to feed him through the night and why I didn't get a Jetstar sale fare for $40 to fly him over. Oh and last night she said 'gee the breeder has done a lot of work toilet training him then!' No way! I've worked my butt off over the weekend! Hahahaha. Not the sharpest tool in the shed, god love her. I will have a word with her though, I sent her an email earlier but might see if she wants to come for tea this week. I can not tell you how much I would love to knock his head off at the best of times but for the sake of keeping things nice I tolerate him. I had an argument at a cafe yesterday because some stupid girl (okay she was probably early 20s) thought it was fine to walk up to Tank (whilst on her phone) and get down on her needs and pat him and shove her hand in his mouth to chew. Needless to say, I was GOBSMACKED at how rude she was - she didn't even acknowledge my existence! I don't understand why people (a) think it's okay to pat your dog without as much as a 'hello' to you beforehand, and then (b) act like you're the f-wit when you tell them off. Honestly... I know I have a super cute puppy and all, but ASK me before you pat him and PLEASE don't shove your horribly manicured fingers in his mouth when I'm desperately trying to teach him that humans are not for biting. : It actually happened to me a few times yesterday while we were sitting at the cafe (at Terrigal on the Central Coast). It's funny - where I live (Potts Point, Sydney) everyone is super friendly and chats and asks before they pat Tank. JackC Posted June 11, 2013 Share Posted June 11, 2013 Its almost like you need to say "ARRRR" "NOOOOOOOOO" just as they are about to do it, then ask them to ask nicely for a pat, if they do say "GOOD BOYYYY or GIRLLLL" and give them a piece of your chocolate croissant, maybe in time they will understand that cute dogs have owners and it is a courtesy to ask first before petting. I have taught my human kids to ask before approaching any dog as you dont know the dogs history. How cute is tank. Love the pic of him with the leaf in his mouth. Ps Terrigal can be hit and miss I grew up on the Coast and now living in a rural town its totally different and people dont seem to go out of there way to be friendly. I had a little kid about 5 years come up at the cafe the other day and ask nicely to pat Gus and I said of course, couldn't spot her mum but figured I couldn't say no if she'd asked so nicely. So she got down on her knees and gave him a cuddle and asked questions about what he eats and where he sleeps etc and she was so lovely and gentle, anyway, mum came out and told her off because doggies bite and have germs. I said he doesn't bite and told the mum she asked so nicely and what a lovely kid she was and she snorted and said 'well I don't like dogs, so we avoid them' and dragged the kid off. Sour old witch. I don't anticipate too many people will want to pat her when she's older. So far only one person recognised her as being a Rottie. I'm sure that too will change when she's older. I got out of that place when I was 17 and haven't looked back My Dad lives by Terrigal beach though which is why I have to visit once a month or so... I don't know what it is about 'Coasties' though - can be an odd bunch...! I've resorted to the spray bottle occasionally - Tank seems to have stopped ankle biting because of it! Hehe...
