Lisey Posted February 18, 2013 Share Posted February 18, 2013 I've just noticed these under Booker's arms. At first I thought the big ones were dirt and went to rub them off. Then I checked both sides..... I really don't think these have been here long. Has anyone seen them before? Do I need to be freaking out or is there a simple explanation? The little dots go all the way down his arm and there are some on his paws. Are they freckles? It's weird that I have only just noticed them. tdierikx Posted February 18, 2013 Share Posted February 18, 2013 The first pic looks like a skin tag to me, and the second looks like small moles (or freckles)... I wouldn't be overly concerned about either unless they get bigger and angrier looking in a short period of time. You shuld see the proliferation of skin tags, lumps, and bumps my oldest girl has... and all are normal age related things which are nothing to be concerned about - even if they look a bit ugly... *grin* T. At least then if it is something to be worried about, then you will have gotten to it early. sas Posted February 21, 2013 Share Posted February 21, 2013 Definitely get them checked, not that I want to scare you but one of our rescues got what looked like Moles around his penis area, all came up in about a week, turned out they were all Cancer. He's not an old dog either and it was completely random. Previous to this I would have just said keep an eye on them but this experience has now changed my stance on that. ~Anne~ Posted February 22, 2013 Share Posted February 22, 2013 (edited) Agree with Sas. I'm battling mast cell tumours with Boofy and each one has looked fairly innocent. They're mostly all different too. Some of Boof's looked like raised pinky/red skin tag or moles, one was an actual lump under the skin and he now has a little red sore that I'm concerned about. Lisey Posted February 28, 2013 Author Share Posted February 28, 2013 Booker went to the vet on Monday night and she had a look - she wasn't sure exactly what they were but didn't think they looked nasty. But she has given us a referral to a specialist just to double check. I have that booked in for Wednesday next week. I'm a bit anxious about going though - it is at QVS which also has the Pet Emergency - I haven't been there since Lola died and I had to say goodbye to her... She had a look and put some sticky tape on and ripped it off to have a look under the mircoscope.... apparently nothing strange. She has said it could possibly be 3 different things, I can't remember the names of them but I do have them written down at home. She thought it would be best to take a biopsy and get it analysed - which they were able to do this morning - just with sedation and a local. I should know the results by Friday. Is it normal for a biopsy site to bleed a bit? I was told that he would be back to his normal self after they take the sedation away, but he was quite sooky and quiet when I got him home and then also it was bleeding a bit - not running down his arm or anything but enough to notice. I think he only has 1 stitch also. Just an awkward spot for a biopsy. Vet told me I was all good to leave him at home with my other girl (as I explained they enjoy playing and running around) but I didn't feel comfortable with that when I got back home and have left him inside in the aircon on his own and Eva outside. He just laid down and wasn't fussed when I left for work like he usually is. Is this normal after sedation? I've organised my OH to leave work early this afternoon to get home and check he is fine. I ended up back at my regular vet this afternoon with him - he had scratched it up a lot, blood everywhere They cleaned it up and I have some anti-inflammatorys and antibiotics for him now. I'm a bit annoyed as I had asked how he would be after as I was going to work, she said that he would be fine and could be left out with Eva. Glad I left him inside on his own. I've made a new topic in the Health section asking if anyone has any experiences with it. I'm really happy that it's not cancer or a tumor or something really serious but I was really hoping it would come back as nothing at all.
